A Louisiana native built to outlast whatever comes next.
The last living branch
Bowfins are the only surviving genus of an evolutionary order more than 150 million years old. Every other known branch of that order survives only in the fossil record.
Longevity isn’t luck. It’s the ability to adapt through cycles that break everyone built for a single market.
Built for bad water
When oxygen-poor water becomes unlivable for many fish, the bowfin surfaces, gulps air, and keeps moving. It can even endure short periods out of water.
The environment is changing. The work should not depend on the water staying comfortable.
The eye that isn’t
The false eyespot near the bowfin’s tail draws predators away from their true target. The strike still comes—but not where the attacker intended.
Positioning shapes exposure. Know what others see—and where the strike will land—before it comes.
